Managing Contractors

Course Summary

For any organisation that needs to out-source contractors to conduct an internal service, there should be a great understanding of how to correctly manage them and relevant contracts. Effectively managing contractors ensures that the expected service can be completed within a reasonable amount of time and for an acceptable price.

A large focus of managing contractors should be given to establishing the contracts themselves. Service contracts must be structured and formatted in an easily readable manner, detail all service specifications, terms and conditions and the tender process. All these factors guarantee that the contractor can carry out their service with minimal confusion or delays.

As contractors are conducting the service, employers must monitor their progress to ensure deadlines can be reached and that everything still matches the discussed budget. Issues and disputes may arise during the service and so these must be quickly addressed and settled to prevent further down-time or delays.

During this course, you’ll learn:

To understand the importance of managing contractors within an organisation.
To identify the organisation’s legal responsibility for managing contractors.
To investigate previous work and monitor current performance to understand contractor’s skills and competencies.
To implement risk management plans and transfer risks to contractors in a legal manner.
To comprehend the different aspects of a service contract and how to effectively create one.
To assess all steps and processes within contractor management.
To maintain health and safety in alignment with relevant health and safety and employment regulations.
To engage in open communication with contractors and settle disputes as they arise.
