Process Safety for Frontline Managers & Leaders

Course Summary

Within any industry, there must be a strong focus on the health and safety of employees. This is especially true for organisations that handle dangerous substances or are involved in more risk-prone affairs such as construction.

Process Safety Management (PSM) is the process of identifying risks and hazards within a workplace, creating detailed audits and assessments of said risks, and taking the necessary steps to prevent incidents from occurring. PSM requires an in-depth analysis of each of the functions within the organisation, and each hazard that may possibly happen. The consequences of each risk must be fully assessed to evaluate how it would impact business productivity.

Frontline managers and leaders are the main roles that would be responsible for ensuring process safety. They must be highly competent in analysis and utilising the tools and equipment to do so. They will also need to have a full understanding of the local rules and regulations surrounding health and safety to guarantee the organisation is complying with standards.

  • To understand the importance of Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • To assess the elements of PSM and its regulatory requirements.
  • To conduct risk assessments and create risk management plans.
  • To accurately analyse risks and their potential implications.
  • To implement a PSM system.
  • To evaluate emergency plans and practices.
  • To create a culture of risk consciousness, process safety, and organisational reliability.
  • To review processes consistently in relation to safety.
  • To identify hazards and complete process hazard analysis.

This course is designed for anyone in a management role with the responsibility of managing process safety, particularly those on the frontline. It would be most beneficial for:

  • PSM Coordinators

This course uses a variety of adult learning styles to aid full understanding and comprehension. Participants will review risk audits, assessments, and hazard analysis to highlight the important information and the level of detail that is required for these.

They will be provided with the highest quality tools in the industry to conduct various learning exercises. Combined with presentations, group discussions, and in-depth practical activities, participants will have full opportunities to develop a comprehensive understanding of the taught content. They will be able to use the supplied equipment to practice analysing hazards and risks they may face within their respective roles to further improve their skills, and will receive positive and constructive feedback.
