Essential Warehouse Safety Procedures

Course Summary

Operating a safe and secure warehouse for the rest of the business is important to function effectively and efficiently. With such a busy, bustling working environment incorporating different personnel and machinery, the potential for accidents can be quite high. For this reason, a foolproof health and safety protocol and monitoring system needs to be created.

It’s not just about the general safety of each individual, either. It’s also important to fully utilise the technology to make the most of your processes and ensure there aren’t any risk areas that may be more prone to accidents.

Auditing procedures should also be implemented to ensure that any risk areas are identified and mitigation techniques are put in place to reduce opportunities for health and safety failures. These audits should have accurate and up-to-date records, which go hand in hand with covering storage, fire safety, working at heights and with machinery, and safety clothing.

Once protocols are created that work both strategically and to benefit each employee, strict training and recap regimes should also be put in place to keep each employee up to date with changes and gain their buy-in for future process amendments.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common risk areas and put procedures in place to reduce risks.
  • Effectively train all employees on the importance of health and safety.
  • Consider health and safety procedures regarding your strategic plans.
  • Create in-depth risk assessments, record-keeping processes and audit trails for future reference.
  • Understand the impact of proper health and safety procedures.
  • Handle and report incidents correctly when they occur.
  • Develop a compliant health and safety culture within your organisation.
  • Understand your obligations as an employer against the legislation.
  • Understand the different types of danger found in a warehouse setting.
  • Improve overall health and safety procedures within your organisation.

This training is for anyone responsible for assessing risk or maintaining overall health and safety within the process and with all employees when managing a warehouse. It would be most beneficial for:

  • Warehouse Managers
  • Warehouse Operatives
  • Heavy Machinery Operatives.
  • Risk Assessors
  • Auditors
  • Health & Safety Managers
  • Health & Safety Representatives
  • Supervisors or Team Leaders
  • Maintenance Employees

This course uses a variety of adult learning styles to convey full understanding. Participants will watch videos and presentations that use real-world cases to show the impact of good health and safety procedures compared to unmonitored environments. They will conduct group discussions, participate in practical exercises to identify risk areas within the warehouse, and complete role-playing activities to handle evacuation scenarios and training procedures.
