Course Summary

A strong focus should also be on providing adequate SEN education and care within the education sector. It is essential for the learning environment to feel inclusive and to give the right education to all students, regardless of any disabilities, conditions, or learning disabilities. Without SEN consideration, disabled students are at a much higher disadvantage than non-disabled students, and it will be much more difficult for them to succeed.

SEN education takes many forms, and we need to manage them correctly as an education organisation. One of the primary considerations for SEN education is the resources the school has available to provide SEN aid. SEN students often require additional attention and time from teachers and specialised equipment to lessen their disadvantage. The education provider is responsible for ensuring they can meet these needs.

Educational facilities must meet students' educational needs and ensure their safety at school and home. Safeguarding ensures student safety, particularly for SEN students, who are considered vulnerable individuals. Employees within the educational organisation must look for signs of danger surrounding the student, raise any concerns to the correct individual, and follow safeguarding procedures.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of SEN education within an educational facility.
  • Recognise the consequences of providing poor SEN education.
  • Explore different equipment that can be used to aid SEN students in classroom learning.
  • Examine various methods and techniques that modify how information is presented to aid learning.
  • Build strong relationships with SEN students based on trust and openness.
  • Assess the process of safeguarding and how to protect SEN students best.
  • Research and comprehend different disabilities commonly faced within education to understand how to provide the best education and care.

This course is designed for anyone in the education sector who is responsible or involved in SEN education. It would be most beneficial for:

  • SEN Managers
  • Operations Managers
  • SEN Teachers/Teaching Assistants
  • Heads of Departments
  • Headteachers
  • Safeguarding Managers
  • HR Personnel
  • Subject/Course Leaders

This course uses a variety of adult learning styles to aid full understanding and comprehension. Participants will review case studies of established organisations with extensive SEN functions to highlight effective methods, safeguarding procedures, and potential areas for improvement.

They will participate in a variety of learning methods, including presentations, open discussions, individual activities, and role-playing activities. This combination of learning methods will guarantee a full understanding of the taught content and related skills. Furthermore, the group activities will allow the participants to demonstrate their new knowledge and offer and receive constructive feedback from their peers.
